Details
Every second Sunday of December, World Choral Day is celebrated—a commemoration dedicated to honoring individuals and groups devoted to the art of choral singing.
The initiative to establish this world day began in 1990, thanks to Venezuelan composer, educator, and choral conductor Alberto Grau. He presented the proposal at the General Assembly of the International Federation for Choral Music (IFCM) during the Second World Symposium on Choral Music, held in Helsinki, Finland. The La Federació Catalana d’Entitats Corals (Catalan Federation of Choral Entities, FCEC) joins this celebration by bringing together three choral groups from the Barcelonès region in concert.
In this edition, we offer the public a showcase of diverse choral models, featuring excellent harmonic quality, extraordinary polyphonic levels, and attractive repertoires. Through the beauty of human voices in choral singing, these choirs aim to convey emotion and the expression of feelings in their songs.
By celebrating this international day, we seek to highlight the importance of choral music as a unifying force among peoples, promoting values of peace, solidarity, unity, and understanding.
The combination of ambition, enthusiasm, and teamwork is key to creating a successful group of singers in the choral world!
Long live the choral world!
