Welcome to the Palau!
You’re about to enjoy an extraordinary experience in the most beautiful concert hall in the world. But first, there are a few things you might want to know...
What should you know before attending a classical music concert?
What if I arrive late?
Please be punctual. Once the first piece has begun, no one will be allowed to enter between movements. You’ll need to wait until the work has finished. If it’s a long piece, you might miss a large part of the concert… So we recommend keeping an eye on the clock!
Can I enter and leave the hall whenever I want?
Out of respect for other audience members, you cannot enter or leave during the performance. This is only allowed in cases of extreme necessity, such as medical or personal emergencies. We recommend using the restroom before the concert to avoid having to leave and risk missing it.
When should I applaud?
At the end of each piece. In the concert program, you’ll see that each work has several movements. Between them, there are short pauses, but we recommend not applauding so as not to disrupt the rhythm and magic of the music. If you’re unsure, follow the others’ lead.
Do I need to be quiet?
Yes, out of respect for everyone else. That means no talking during the concert and making sure your phone is on silent. Got a coughing fit? Try a soothing lozenge or cover the sound with a handkerchief. If it’s frequent, we suggest leaving during a pause. And remember—everyone can hear when you’re rummaging for a candy in your bag… so have it ready!
Can I eat or drink in the hall?
Not inside the concert hall. The space must remain clean and quiet. But don’t worry—the Foyer and the Palau terrace are wonderful places to have a bite or a drink before, during the intermissions, or after the concert.
What should I wear?
Whatever you like—there’s no dress code. You can go for a casual look or dress up a bit more elegantly. Coming to the Palau is an experience in itself, and we want you to feel comfortable. Just keep in mind that it’s an iconic concert hall and a concert is a special occasion.
Any special tips?
You can learn about the program and artists before the concert through the programs available on our website, via the QR codes at the entrance, or the leaflets distributed once you’re inside the hall.
And now, all that’s left is to enjoy!
