The Rite of Spring by Stravinsky

Details

Two iconic works that represent stylistically contrasting worlds and moments of great social and cultural transformation in Russia. The virtuoso Maxim Vengerov performs Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto, a passionate score full of light and melodic exuberance, which in the hands of the Russian violinist promises an experience of great intensity. In the second half, veteran South Korean conductor Myung-Whun Chung and the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra take us into Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring, an explosion of rhythm, colour and orchestral tension that shook the musical world from its very first chord. A concert that journeys from lyricism to primitivism in a night of radical and revealing contrasts.
