Details
After his memorable appearance at the Palau de la Música Catalana during the 2015–16 season with the Gulbenkian Orchestra, Nikolai Lugansky returns to the modernist hall with a solo recital that reveals two complementary facets of Romanticism: the intimate and the tragic. The former emerges through Robert Schumann, with the tender Scenes from Childhood and the complex, nuanced Humoreske. The latter, through Wagnerian echoes in piano transcriptions: from Liszt’s Liebestod to a selection of scenes from Götterdämmerung arranged by Lugansky himself. A soul-stirring journey, led by a pianist who combines emotional depth, elegance, and a captivating interpretative power free of artifice.
