Details
With its irresistible blend of romance, comedy and emotion, L’elisir d’amore has become one of Gaetano Donizetti’s most popular operas. The Fundació Òpera a Catalunya brings this bel canto gem to the stage, where the innocent Nemorino’s hopes of finding love intertwine with Adina’s strong-willed personality, Belcore’s vanity and the cunning schemes of Doctor Dulcamara. A series of unexpected twists unfolds through a score of remarkable melodic richness, effortlessly shifting from light-hearted humour to moments of profound tenderness. Among its highlights is the celebrated aria “Una furtiva lagrima”, one of the most moving pieces in the tenor repertoire.
