Frames Percussion

Frames Percussion
—Primary colours by Agustí Charles
Details
Frames Percussion, an ensemble dedicated to promoting contemporary music, explores the expressive potential of percussion through three works that connect music with spirituality, nature and visual art. The programme opens with Primera palabra by Helena Cánovas, inspired by Christ’s words on the cross, followed by …and bells remembered… by John Luther Adams, a musical evocation of the natural world. The evening concludes with Primary Colors by Agustí Charles, the Palau’s guest composer for the 2026–27 season. Drawing inspiration from the works of painter Kazimir Malevich and poet Vladimir Mayakovsky, this composition explores musical abstraction by combining percussion with voices performing onomatopoeic sounds, creating a hypnotic atmosphere. Featuring soprano María Hinojosa and mezzo-sopranos Marta Valero and Montserrat Bertral, the concert unfolds through a fascinating interplay of rhythms, resonances and textures that pushes the boundaries of the musical experience.
