Eternity in an hour by Whitacre

Eternity in an hour by Whitacre
—Cor de Cambra del Palau & Eric Whitacre
Details
Grammy Award-winning American composer Eric Whitacre, internationally acclaimed for his contribution to the evolution of contemporary choral music, takes centre stage in the first of three concerts dedicated to his work at the Palau this season as guest composer. Conducting the Cor de Cambra del Palau de la Música Catalana, he will present the Spanish premiere of Eternity in an Hour, a work co-commissioned by the Palau and inspired by four lines from William Blake’s poem Auguries of Innocence. Captivated by the idea of discovering an entire universe within a grain of sand, Whitacre has created an hour-long composition that explores our perception of time and the beauty hidden in the smallest details. Featuring cellist Oriol Prat, pianist Jordi Armengol and percussionist Ivan Herranz, the concert offers a deeply contemplative listening experience, revealing the intimate and spiritual dimensions of contemporary choral music.
