One of the leading international figures of the violin comes to the Petit Palau with a recital exploring different facets of Romantic and post-Romantic expression.

Daniel Hope and pianist Marie Sophie Hauzel open the programme with Dvořák’s Sonatina in G major, a work full of lyricism, freshness and melodies inspired by folk music. This is followed by Alexey Shor’s Sonata No. 1 in D minor, which takes us into a contemporary musical language with deeply melodic roots. After the interval comes one of the great works of the violin and piano repertoire: César Franck’s Sonata in A major. Passionate, intimate and extraordinarily intense, it is one of chamber music’s great declarations of love.
