Notice

Singers Maggie Reilly and Nikki Lamborn join forces with the orchestra Opus One to bring Mike Oldfield’s greatest music back to life, as part of the new Gran Simfònic series — an initiative by the Palau de la Música Catalana and the Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès that brings large-scale symphonic productions and film soundtracks to Barcelona (Auditori Fòrum CCIB).

Two and a half years after their acclaimed concert at the Palau, Opus One returns with a new performance of Tubular Bells, faithful to the sound and spirit of the legendary 1973 recording. This production, which recalls Oldfield’s debut at London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall, has become one of the most authentic and spectacular tributes on the international scene.

On this occasion, the Catalan orchestra once again features Maggie Reilly, the iconic voice behind Oldfield’s greatest hits such as Moonlight Shadow, To France, Family Man and Foreign Affair. Joining her for the first time in Barcelona is Nikki Lamborn, one of the UK’s leading rock and blues singers, who will also perform emblematic songs such as Earth Moving.

The concert at the Auditori Fòrum marks the third collaboration between Opus One and Maggie Reilly, promising an immersive and thrilling experience for fans of symphonic music and Mike Oldfield’s legacy.

Created in 2021 by musicologist Xavier Alern, Opus One was founded with the aim of faithfully performing Oldfield’s “magical trilogy”: Tubular Bells, Hergest Ridge and Ommadawn, three landmark works of contemporary music.

The concert is part of the Gran Simfònic series, which this December will bring other large-scale concerts to Barcelona — a project through which the Palau and the OSV aim to bring symphonic and film music closer to new audiences, offering collective and accessible live experiences for all ages.
