The Trio Fortuny —Joel Bardolet (violin), Pau Codina (cello), and Marc Heredia (piano)— begins its third and final season as ensemble-in-residence at the Palau de la Música Catalana, which will conclude in 2026, marking the group’s 10th anniversary.
In the past two seasons, the Trio has presented programs where contemporary works by Catalan composers such as Magrané and Guix have engaged in dialogue with trio repertoire by a wide range of composers including Kurtág, Kodály, Schönberg, Mel Bonis, and Bloch, as well as great figures of the classical canon: Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, and Shostakovich. Their performances have also included interdisciplinary collaborations, such as a concert with the Mal Pelo dance company. This season, Trio Fortuny will expand its artistic residency to three concerts and will also perform Beethoven’s Triple Concerto with the Vallès Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Andrés Salado.
They will also collaborate with violist Jonathan Brown to perform Schumann’s Piano Quartet, Op. 47, and with violinist Oliver Ville to present Brahms’s Piano Quintet, Op. 34. In the final concert of their residency, the musicians will return to the piano trio formation to perform two cornerstone works: Ravel’s Trio in A minor and Schubert’s Trio No. 2 in E-flat major, and will premiere a new work commissioned by the Palau from composer Josep Ollé, guest composer of the Palau this season.
