The Ninth by Beethoven

The Ninth by Beethoven
—Staatskapelle Dresden, Orfeó Català & Gatti
Details
Conducted by the prestigious maestro Daniele Gatti, the Staatskapelle Dresden will hold the stage in a special series of four concerts dedicated to the complete symphonies of Ludwig van Beethoven.
On this occasion, the main work on the programme will be the monumental Ninth Symphony, one of the most transcendent works in the history of music. Composed between 1822 and 1824, it has become a universal hymn to peace and fraternity between peoples.
The vocal parts will be performed by the Orfeó Català, founded over a hundred years ago and one of this country's leading choral groups.
The programme will be completed by a performance of Symphony No. 8, which stands out for its structural clarity and its combination of classical refinement and innovative spirit.
The concert will also include a new orchestration by the German composer Jörg Widmann, one of the contemporary compositions that will complement the tour of Beethoven's nine symphonies.
