The four seasons: Winter

Description of the World: Martí Sales & Jordina Millà

Program

Martí Sales presents his new book of poems alongside the extraordinary pianist Jordina Millà. Description of the World is a gloss on Max Jacob’s verse “truth is always new”, a radical challenge to confessional literature and neoliberal extractivism, a Whitmanesque song, a call for uplift, enthusiasm, and the elegance of looking outward and coming together. It begins like this: “is there a heart / that never trembles? is there a heart / still at the heart / of all things?”

Details

The Palau de la Música Catalana is a home of music and poetry. Two art forms unaltered by the passage of time, leaving an imprint, unseen but with a deep scar. That same magic surrounds the movement of the solstices, a relief perceptible through light, temperature, and gesture. With four poetic evenings, we will celebrate the passing of the seasons in the Rehearsal Room of the Orfeó Català. Four events in which we will launch Orphic quests, vibrate with a city that shakes us, dance poetry like someone questioning themselves in front of a mirror, and invoke poets who rise electrified.
