Somos Uno
Solidarity gala
Details
Invest for children is an international non-profit foundation that works to achieve a better quality of life for people with intellectual disabilities. The mission of Invest for children is to support people with disabilities or special needs, acting directly on individuals or their families, or indirectly through support to other foundations or institutions. For years, Invest for children has been collaborating with Aura Foundation to promote the labor inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities, mainly those with Down syndrome, in the regular job market. To achieve this, they apply the Supported Employment methodology, which prepares candidates by taking into account their abilities and support needs. Currently, Aura Foundation supports nearly 500 participants and has helped create 300 jobs through its employment program.
My Fundación Alex is the corporate foundation of the hospital group Clíniques Mi. Since 2006, it is arguably the most important project of the Masfurroll-Cortada family. It was created in memory of their second child, Alex, and from the very first day—more than twenty years ago—it has been dedicated to ensuring that all the “Alexes” in the world can live healthier, more dignified lives and be fully included in society. It is involved in projects related to job inclusion, inclusive sports, promotion of healthy habits, charitable clinics, and research and innovation. This year, the funds raised from this gala will go towards two projects. One of them, in collaboration with the Catalan Sailing Federation and the Barcelona Capital Nautical Foundation, is the “Sailing for Everyone” project—an adapted sailing school that promotes inclusive sailing in the city of Barcelona. This June, we will celebrate the second edition of the Kakapo Open Race, an international open sailing regatta recognized as a legacy project of the America's World Cup. At the same time, the Be My Referee project has also been launched, together with Down España and AGF Genuine Experiences. This initiative involves training individuals with disabilities to become referees. These initiatives aim to foster the inclusion of people with disabilities and promote their joint participation in sporting events.
