Rest to be confirmed
Calmness. Patience. Just a moment. Let's take a deep breath. Let's take a deep breath. Come on. Come on. Is it true? Yes, yes, yes, yes and yes! Sergio Mendes, history and living legend of Brazilian music, makes his debut in our festival. From his beginnings as a samba-jazz pianist at Beco das Garrafas, in Rio, to his wild success in the United States (where, legend has it, he is by far the Brazilian artist who has sold the most records), Mendes has shaped the universal music lover's imagination for decades. With an impressive resume that includes collaborations with monsters like Antônio Carlos Jobim and jazz legends like Cannonball Adderley, Mendes has in recent years been vindicated by artists like the Black-Eye Peas, Common, will.i.am and John Legend, among many others. As the documentary dedicated to him, In the Key of Joy, makes clear that Mendes' first goal in this life has been to bring joy through his music. "It answers to a mathematical formula", says Carlinhos Brown in that documentary, "Sergio Mendes equals musical intelligence". The supreme and unique intelligence of making us happy, a lot, listening to his music.
