Details
The pure lyricism of Chopin and the symphonic power of Borodin come together in this concert by the London Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Gianandrea Noseda. Seong-Jin Cho, one of the most refined pianists of his generation, performs Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2, a work of delicate beauty and poetic depth. In the second half, Borodin’s Symphony No. 2 bursts forth with epic character and melodic richness, full of references to the Slavic world and the legends of ancient steppes. The programme opens with Stravinsky’s brilliant Divertimento from The Fairy’s Kiss, a tribute to tradition and the melodic subtlety of Tchaikovsky. A night to revel in emotional intensity and orchestral grandeur.
