Rial, Valetti & Café Zimmermann
—Christmas cantatas by Bach and Telemann
Details
The Palau de la Música Catalana dedicates this evening’s concert to the memory of Dr. Jordi Roch, who passed away yesterday, December 15, at the age of 94. Dr. Roch was a central and deeply beloved figure in Catalan musical life over the past 65 years. President of Joventuts Musicals de Barcelona, Juventudes Musicales de España, and the International Federation of Youth Music, his leadership fostered many initiatives supporting young musicians in Catalonia and Spain that are still active today. Thanks to his initiative, the Palau de la Música Catalana hosted its first educational concerts in the 1960s. A key witness to the creation of many musical initiatives over recent decades, in 1993 he founded the Schubertíada in Vilabertran, now an international benchmark event for the Romantic Lied genre. The Palau de la Música Catalana wishes to pay its most heartfelt tribute to a kind person, deeply passionate about music, and to express its gratitude for his enthusiastic and devoted work over so many years. May he rest in peace.
