The Filarmónica Joven de Colombia comes to the Palau de la Música Catalana under Andrés Orozco-Estrada with two high-impact works that showcase the orchestra’s energy. Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 is one of the most popular works in the piano repertoire, with irresistibly lyrical melodies and writing that demands both virtuosity and expressive depth from the soloist. Nelson Goerner takes the solo role. With The Firebird, performed in its complete version, Stravinsky transports us to a world of fairy tale, magic and fantasy through an orchestra brimming with colour and contrast. From the sweeping Romanticism of the piano to the orchestral spectacle of ballet, two very different ways of captivating the listener.
