Polyphony – Conversations on Choral Singing

Choral Conducting

Notice

POLYPHONY invites us to explore the richness of choral singing in Catalonia from its very epicenter: the Palau de la Música Catalana. The rehearsal hall of the Orfeó Català, where the foundation stone of the Palau lies, embodies the institution’s founding purpose: choral singing and the central role of its artistic and social practice. Through a series of conversations moderated by journalist and music communicator Pere-Andreu Jariod, we will hear directly from the protagonists themselves, gaining a multifaceted perspective that reveals how deeply choral singing is rooted in Catalan culture and in the very essence of the Palau de la Música Catalana.

What it means to conduct a choir beyond rehearsals and concerts. Repertoire selection. The difference between preparing a work and conducting it. Human leadership: building cohesion within a diverse group and motivating singers. The current challenges of the choral world and the cultural role of an institution such as the Orfeó Català.
