Opera and zarzuela

—Josep Bros, Laura Brasó & Miquel Ortega

Details

Tenor Josep Bros, one of Spain’s leading operatic voices, joins rising soprano Laura Brasó and pianist, composer and conductor Miquel Ortega for a concert exploring different traditions of vocal and theatrical music. The programme opens with songs by Paolo Tosti and a selection of Italian opera arias, showcasing the expressive range and interpretative sensitivity of both singers. The second half focuses on zarzuela, the distinctive Spanish lyric theatre tradition with deep historical roots in Barcelona, featuring romanzas from some of its best-known works. The evening also includes solo piano pieces by Francesco Cilea and Isaac Albéniz, enriching a musical journey that moves between Italian lyricism and the Spanish theatrical tradition, brought to life by three Barcelona-born artists from different generations.
