Details
The renowned Barcelona-born flamenco singer Mayte Martín performs El amor brujo by Manuel de Falla together with Camerata Penedès, in a show that also includes Arabic music and a poetry recital by Kurdish oud player Gani Mirzo and Syrian-Catalan actress Manar Taljo.
Written in 1915 and considered the masterpiece of composer Manuel de Falla (1876–1946), El amor brujo is today an internationally acclaimed work with deep roots in Andalusian literary and musical tradition.
The concert takes place as part of Mediterranean Day, an annual opportunity to celebrate cultural exchange and regional cooperation, and to embrace Mediterranean diversity and richness. This day was created to commemorate Mediterranean heritage and promote dialogue among the cultures and peoples of the region. It is organized by the Union for the Mediterranean, the European Institute of the Mediterranean, the Barcelona City Council, the Government of Catalonia, and the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, EU and Cooperation. This year, the event also commemorates the 30th anniversary of the Barcelona Process, which began in the Catalan capital.
