Pere Méndez (soprano saxophone), Víctor Serra (alto saxophone), Robert Seara (tenor saxophone), and Daniel Miguel (baritone saxophone) have formed the Kebyart saxophone quartet for ten years. Founded in Barcelona during their studies at ESMUC, Kebyart is a groundbreaking ensemble. With a boundless and sincere passion for chamber music, which they perform with generosity and camaraderie, the members of Kebyart are fully aware of their role in expanding the repertoire for a formation still too young to rely solely on works written specifically for it.

As a result, commissioning new pieces and performing transcriptions —arranged by the ensemble themselves— of masterworks, mainly string quartets from the Classical period to the present, have become defining traits of their identity. It is no surprise that musicians and composers such as Jörg Widmann have praised their “sonic unity and virtuosity.”

The Palau de la Música Catalana has witnessed their artistic growth ever since the quartet won the El Primer Palau Award in 2016 and supported their entry into the ECHO Rising Stars circuit, in which they participated during the 2021–22 season. Over the next two seasons, Kebyart will be ensemble-in-residence at the Palau, showcasing their creative and expressive potential in programs that will both honor their foundational goals and allow them to collaborate with musicians of equal talent and artistic vision.
