JOSB & Carlos Checa
Scheherazade and Iñaki Bermúdez’s saxophone
Details
Programme No. 4 of the Jove Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona’s (JOSB) 12th season offers an engaging dialogue between contemporary creation and one of the great works of the symphonic repertoire, under the musical direction of conductor Carlos Checa.
The concert will open with Suite Folklorique, a new work by Lleida-born composer Miquel de Jorge Artells. Written in a contemporary, colourful language and full of evocative rhythms and melodies inspired by elements of folklore, the piece will feature virtuoso saxophonist Iñaki Bermúdez as soloist, bringing his distinctive personality and refined expressiveness to this new creation. The JOSB will then perform Scheherazade, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s celebrated symphonic suite, an enduring and evocative masterpiece that transports us, through its exuberant orchestration and rich melodic language, into the fascinating world of the tales of One Thousand and One Nights.
This concert in the JOSB series at the Palau de la Música Catalana is dedicated to raising awareness of literacy disorders and dyslexia, helping to give greater visibility to a reality that affects many children and young people.
