Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra & Peltokoski

Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra & Peltokoski
—Mozart and Bruckner
Details
At just twenty-six years old, Tarmo Peltokoski has become one of the most exciting names among the new generation of European conductors. The young Finnish conductor makes his debut in Catalonia at the helm of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, one of Asia’s leading symphony orchestras, in a programme that brings together two very different musical worlds: Mozart at his most intense and dramatic, and the expansive symphonic universe of Bruckner’s Romantic.
Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 24, one of the few concertante works the composer wrote in a minor key, reveals a particularly intense and expressive side of Mozart. The soloist is Martin Helmchen, a German pianist with a distinguished international career and a regular guest with leading European orchestras and concert halls. Alongside him, Peltokoski and the Hong Kong Philharmonic will perform one of Bruckner’s most popular symphonies, Symphony No. 4, “Romantic”, a work of vast sonic horizons that has become one of the most accessible gateways into the Austrian composer’s musical world.
Mozart and Bruckner, two composers separated by almost a century, thus come together in a concert that combines the discovery of a rapidly rising conductor with the experience of an established pianist and the power of one of Asia’s leading orchestras.
