Alessandro is one of Handel’s lesser-known operas and an opportunity to explore a less frequently performed part of his catalogue. Inspired by the figure of Alexander the Great, the work portrays the conqueror torn between his ambitions and the romantic rivalry of two women, in a plot that allows Handel to display the full vocal and dramatic richness of his operatic writing.

One of the production’s major attractions is its artistic team, featuring a strong representation of musicians from Catalonia. Gabriel Díaz takes the role of Alessandro, alongside Emőke Baráth, Núria Rial, Anna Brull, Xavier Sabata, Ferran Mitjans and Josep-Ramon Olivé. In the pit, Vespres d’Arnadí and Dani Espasa, an ensemble and conductor with an established international reputation in Baroque repertoire, complete a production that champions a less familiar side of Handel through the musical talent of the country.
