Agrippina brings together some of the leading voices on the international scene in one of Handel’s most popular operas. Magdalena Kožená takes the title role alongside Julia Lezhneva, two acclaimed singers already familiar to Palau de la Música Catalana audiences and both featured artists in the Palau Grans Veus series. The opera, which has not been heard in Barcelona for many years, combines intrigue, ambition and struggles for power in a plot centred on Agrippina and her schemes to secure the Roman throne for her son Nerone, with such popular arias as Come nube che fugge dal vento and Voi che udite il mio lamento.

Alongside Kožená and Lezhneva, the cast features Christophe Dumaux, Adèle Charvet, Nicolas Brooymans, Adrien Fournaison and Paul Figuier. Les Accents, with Thibault Noally on violin and conducting, complete a line-up in which the voices take centre stage.
