Guinovart, Cor Femení Scherzo & Esteve Nabona
—Works for choir by Albert Guinovart
Details
Composer and pianist Albert Guinovart, one of the most versatile figures in contemporary Catalan music, takes centre stage in a concert dedicated to his choral works, alongside the Cor de Cambra Femení Scherzo, conducted by Esteve Nabona. With Guinovart at the piano, the programme reveals different facets of his distinctive musical language, characterised by its melodic richness and expressive sensitivity. The Missa brevis Rex Genitor explores the composer’s spiritual side, while Balades amargues, setting poems by Josep Palau i Fabra, offers a more intimate and evocative perspective. The evening also features La Mar, a suite inspired by five poems by Joan Maragall, translating the poetic imagery of the sea into music. A journey through Guinovart’s vocal music that highlights the close relationship between poetry and musical expression, brought to life by an ensemble specialising in the female choral repertoire.
