Franco Fagioli puts his voice at the service of Farinelli, the most celebrated castrato of Baroque opera. Considered one of today’s most gifted countertenors, Fagioli possesses an exceptional instrument, extraordinary energy and vocal power, and a unique stage presence. These qualities make him particularly well suited to reviving the repertoire associated with a figure who triumphed at the courts of Europe and ultimately became a legend.
Works by Vivaldi, Hasse, Geminiani, Porpora, Sellitto and Locatelli recreate that world of vocal virtuosity and Baroque splendour. Fagioli will be joined by the Gabetta Consort, an ensemble specialising in historically informed performance, with Andrés Gabetta on violin and conducting.
