Details
The celebrations for the Millennium of Montserrat continue with a new concert at the Palau de la Música Catalana, bringing together for the first time the voices of the Escolania de Montserrat and the Orquestra del Miracle — founded two years ago at the Miracle sanctuary, a subsidiary of Montserrat, thanks to the initiative of the Espurnes Barroques Foundation. The concert will also feature the Capella de Música de Montserrat and will be conducted by Juan de la Rubia, who will also play the organ.
The programme includes a representative work by each of the three most important composers of the Baroque period: two of Saxons – Handel and Bach – and the Italian Vivaldi, a repertoire that will be accompanied by the visual art of Sean Scully, one of the great references of contemporary abstraction, currently exhibited at La Pedrera. Thus, the concert will offer a visual and introspective experience to the listener, with projections on the stage of the works of this artist, closely linked to Montserrat, where the blocks of color, lines and textures will be transmitters of deep emotions and will invite the audience to immerse themselves in a universe of rhythm and intensity together with the music that is being performed at that time.
