El cant dels ocells
—Orquestra Julià Carbonell de les Terres de Lleida, Espina & Pagès-Corella
Details
El cant dels ocells (Birdsong) provides the inspiration for a concert exploring how composers have drawn on the world of birds to create music. The Orquestra Julià Carbonell de les Terres de Lleida, conducted by Xavier Pagès-Corella, presents a programme commemorating the 150th anniversary of Pau Casals’ birth, featuring a new orchestration of El cant dels ocells by the conductor himself. The evening takes audiences on a journey through different musical periods and styles, from Ramon Humet’s Escenes d’ocells to Ralph Vaughan Williams’s The Lark Ascending and Ottorino Respighi’s Gli uccelli. The programme also includes Einojuhani Rautavaara’s Cantus Arcticus, a remarkable work incorporating authentic recordings of Arctic birdsong.
