Christian Blackshaw
—Integral Sonatas for Piano by Mozart (I)
Details
Christian Blackshaw begins a journey at the Palau de la Música Catalana through the complete Piano Sonatas of Mozart, an opportunity to delve into one of the great bodies of work in the piano repertoire and to follow, concert by concert, the evolution of the composer’s writing for the keyboard. Mozart in its purest form, without orchestra or artifice, just the piano and a performer at the service of music in which transparency lays every detail bare.
This first recital brings together five sonatas from different periods, from the luminous Sonata No. 1 in C major, K. 279 to the Sonata No. 17 in B-flat major, K. 570, one of the last Mozart wrote. Blackshaw thus lays the foundation for a complete cycle that will allow audiences to rediscover an intimate, imaginative and extraordinarily diverse Mozart, in the close setting of the piano recital.
