The Palau, your stage
We invite you to discover the facilites of the Palau!
The Palau de la Música Catalana was built between 1905 and 1908 by the architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner as a home for the Orfeó Català. An architectural jewel of Catalan Modernism, it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site on 4th December 1997.
With 600 concerts and 70 events per year and an annual total of over 615,000 visitors, the Palau is today an essential landmark for the cultural life of Catalonia. Moreover, it has become a symbol for the heritage and sentiments of the entire population, who identify with its history.
The building is designed around a central glass-covered metal structure which exploits natural light, converting Domènech i Montaner’s most significant work into a magical music box that combines all the applied arts: sculpture, mosaic, stained glass and wrought iron.
Its unique characteristics, the constant relationship with nature, its impressive colours and textures, and the fantastical connotations of its spaces make the Palau de la Música Catalana a singular space. Each event, concert, performance or filming becomes a magical and unforgettable experience.
