Open House Day 2025
Come and discover a gem of modernism
Details
The Palau de la Música Catalana opens its doors once again to bring this treasure of Catalan Modernism closer to all citizens. A day to immerse yourself in a unique space in the world, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where light, music and architecture have been in dialogue for over a century.
Every year, coinciding with the feast of Saint Cecilia, patron saint of music, the Palau invites everyone to rediscover its beauty and spirit. For five hours, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and following a set route, visitors can explore some of its most iconic spaces and experience up close the magic of this modernist temple, which remains a living symbol of the country's cultural life.
All contributions collected during the day (minimum donation of €1) will go entirely to the social project Palau Vincles, which promotes inclusion and social cohesion through choral singing among children and young people. Palau Vincles offers free choral training to over 600 children and young people from vulnerable areas or situations, based on the belief that music and collective practice have great personal and social transformative power. Your visit, therefore, also helps music reach further.
Which spaces will you be able to explore up close?
Concert Hall
The heart of the Palau beats beneath a skylight representing the sun, flooding the space with natural light. The stage muses, the Valkyries, and the busts of composers coexist with exuberant floral forms and natural motifs that make the hall a true poem crafted from stone, glass, ceramic, and mosaic.
Every detail is a celebration of the applied arts: stained glass, sculpture, wrought iron, and mosaic blend into a visual symphony that surrounds the visitor. The stage, crowned by the monumental organ, seems to emerge as a sound garden where light and music embrace.
It is the home of the Orfeó Català and all its choirs, and at the same time the stage that welcomes some of the world’s most renowned classical musicians every day. In this space, architectural beauty and music become a single voice that continues to move generations.

Lluís Millet Hall and Balcony
A space of serenity and elegance that invites silence and contemplation. Dedicated to Lluís Millet, founder of the Orfeó Català, it is one of the Palau’s most emblematic spaces: a grand hall, a place for rest and gathering, where architecture becomes a song to harmony.
Its columns, of captivating beauty, are adorned with decorated capitals and colors that seem to spring from a mosaic garden. The hall, two storeys high, is enclosed by large stained-glass windows with floral motifs of extraordinary effect. Even more remarkable is the balcony glimpsed through the glass, with its double colonnade of sinuous forms and distinctive ornamentation—one of the most iconic images of the Palau.

The Foyer and Common Areas
The exposed brick arches, glazed ceramics, and ornate columns interact with the natural light that highlights every texture and detail. These are spaces filled with history and harmony, where time seems to stand still and where visitors can rest, observe, and be captivated by the richness of the applied arts that define the Palau.

Palau Terrace, with the Maria Canals
During the Open Day, the Palau’s terrace also becomes a musical space thanks to the piano provided by the Maria Canals International Music Competition for the occasion. Open to anyone who wishes to play it, this instrument invites visitors to pause, take part, and let themselves be carried away by the music in a lively and shared atmosphere.
A perfect late-morning finale—the best continuation of a day to remember, with music and the city as the backdrop.
