Laura Farré Rozada
—‘Araspel’
Details
Laura Farré Rozada returns to the Palau to present Araspel, her latest album and a project that brings together over ten years of research, passion, and artistic commitment. The title —meaning “legend” in Armenian— is a statement of intent: an invitation to delve into the sound world of Armenian nationalist music, with composer Vardapet Komitas as the spiritual and aesthetic centre.
Trained as a pianist at the Royal College of Music in London and also a mathematician, Farré Rozada stands out for her cross-disciplinary vision and her ability to build bridges between fields. With Araspel, she explores Komitas’s legacy and his crucial role in blending liturgical and folk traditions, while also mapping a soundscape that links composers from Armenia with artists from Bulgaria, Ukraine, Israel, France, Russia, and the United States.
The concert is a journey through pure timbres, irregular metres, ornamented melodies, and textures that evoke instruments like the cimbalom. A programme full of poetic strength and intellectual depth, bringing oral tradition into the concert hall with a contemporary and deeply personal voice.
