Pere Méndez (soprano sax), Víctor Serra (contralto sax), Robert Seara (tenor sax) and Daniel Miguel (baritone sax) make up the sax quartet Kebyart, a formation born in Barcelona a little over a decade ago during the shared years of training at ESMUC. Since its inception, the group has been distinguished by a refreshing look at chamber music and by an artistic complicity that is reflected in the intensity and generosity of each performance.
Aware of the youth of the original repertoire for sax quartet, the Kebyarts have naturally taken on the challenge of expanding their limits. The commissioning of works by current female composers coexists with the exploration of great scores from the Classical and Romantic repertoire that the ensemble itself adapts for its formation. This double edge, creative and reinterpretive, has become one of the quartet's hallmarks and has earned the praise of musicians and composers who have written for them, such as Jörg Widmann, Mauricio Sotelo, Bernat Vivancos, Georg Friedrich Haas, Dani López Pradas, Dani López Pradas.
Throughout the artistic residency at the Palau, which began in the 2025-26 season, the Kebyarts have performed both as a quartet and as an extended chamber formation and during the 2026-27 season they will offer three concerts: a concert as soloists, with W. A. Mozart's Concertant Symphony for Winds, together with the Camera; a concert in which the interpretation of the quartet for saxophones by Agustí Charles, guest composer of the season, and a concert with a Bach-Glass program stands out.
