Violin Concerto in D major, op. 61
Symphony no. 5
The long-awaited début of conductor Santtu-Matias Rouvali at the Palau de la Música Catalana has arrived as he leads the Philharmonia Orchestra, an ensemble as legendary as the pieces they will be performing. The Italian-born Scottish violinist Nicola Benedetti will join them for Beethoven’s Violin Concerto, while rounding off the programme with Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5, which undoubtedly deserves its place rivalling the popularity of the Pathétique Symphony by the Russian composer.
