Details
Bach’s St Matthew Passion is seen by many as one of the most important compositions in the history of music. Performed for the first time on Good Friday in 1727, it has since impressed generations from every background and even religion with its powerful combination of music and text, which makes it both complex, direct and cathartic. As every year, the piece returns to the Palau de la Música Catalana, this time with the Collegium Vocale Gent and its conductor, Philippe Herreweghe, who will ensure the score is performed to the highest possible standard.
