A memoir in music. An exercise in memory through musicwith Colm Tóibín

A Perspective about the construction of memory through music.
Forty-five years ago, a young Irish writer was attending one of the concerts every Saturday at the Palau de la Música Catalana. Now he is back to building some musical biography, remembering episodes like a Beethoven marathon in 1977 and 1978, or the audition of a Die Walküre with Birgit Nilsson and Montserrat Caballé in the same place. And it will evoke that restless and musical city, with the Liceo, the small kiosks in the Talleres street where it bought discs, the ghostly presence of Pau Casals or the discovery that Webern, Berg and Schönberg had lived and played in Barcelona.
